Blue Java Banana – The Famous Ice Cream Banana

Blue Java Banana is one of the world's most sought-after banana varieties, admired for its striking blue-green skin before ripening and its exceptionally creamy texture. Unlike ordinary bananas, Blue Java offers a rich, smooth bite with a naturally sweet flavor that has earned it the nickname "Ice Cream Banana."

Why You'll Like Blue Java Banana:

Ultra-Creamy Texture:
Dense, smooth, and velvety—far creamier than a Cavendish (supermarket) banana.

Naturally Sweet Flavor:
A rich banana taste with delicate hints of vanilla, giving it its famous "ice cream" reputation.

Beautiful Appearance:
Immature fruit develops a distinctive silvery blue skin before ripening to a soft pale yellow.

Nutrient-Rich:
A good source of potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and dietary fiber to support energy and overall wellness.

Perfect Ripeness Guide:
Allow the fruit to ripen until the peel turns pale yellow with brown speckles. The flesh will become exceptionally creamy and reach its sweetest flavor.

Versatile Enjoyment:
Enjoy fresh, blend into smoothies, freeze for a naturally creamy dessert, or use in baking where its rich texture shines.

Each Blue Java Banana is harvested at the ideal stage of maturity we don't ship the fruit when its yellow as it easily bruises. So allow a few days for it to fully ripen before enjoying.

How to enjoy this fruit

A banana with a silvery blue-green peel when unripe. The peel turns pale yellow as it ripens, revealing creamy white flesh.

Before you try it

The blue colour belongs to the unripe peel. Wait for yellow, softened fruit before eating it fresh.

When it’s ready

We send these before they turn yellow to help protect them during delivery. Leave them indoors, away from direct sunlight, until the peel turns yellow and the fruit softens. A few brown speckles are normal. Check the fruit rather than counting a fixed number of days.

How to eat it

Peel and eat fresh once ripe. The flesh is creamy and mildly sweet, sometimes with a vanilla-like flavour. It also works well in smoothies or frozen in pieces for blending.

How to store it

Keep unripe bananas at room temperature indoors. Once ripe, enjoy promptly or peel, portion and freeze them for later use.
