How to enjoy this fruit
A banana with a silvery blue-green peel when unripe. The peel turns pale yellow as it ripens, revealing creamy white flesh.
The blue colour belongs to the unripe peel. Wait for yellow, softened fruit before eating it fresh.
When it’s ready
We send these before they turn yellow to help protect them during delivery. Leave them indoors, away from direct sunlight, until the peel turns yellow and the fruit softens. A few brown speckles are normal. Check the fruit rather than counting a fixed number of days.
How to eat it
Peel and eat fresh once ripe. The flesh is creamy and mildly sweet, sometimes with a vanilla-like flavour. It also works well in smoothies or frozen in pieces for blending.
How to store it
Keep unripe bananas at room temperature indoors. Once ripe, enjoy promptly or peel, portion and freeze them for later use.
