Jicama – Crisp, Juicy & Naturally Refreshing

Jicama (Pachyrhizus erosus) is a crunchy tropical root prized for its exceptionally crisp, juicy texture and mild natural sweetness. Although it looks more like a turnip from the outside, the white flesh inside is refreshing and clean-tasting, somewhere between apple, pear, and water chestnut.

Why You’ll Like Jicama:

Exceptionally Crisp Texture:
Firm, juicy, and satisfyingly crunchy—even when eaten raw.

Mild, Refreshing Flavor:
Lightly sweet with subtle apple and pear notes, without being sugary.

Naturally Hydrating:
Its high water content makes it especially refreshing when served chilled.

Fiber-Rich:
A good source of dietary fiber, including inulin, alongside vitamin C.

How to Prepare:
Peel away the thick brown skin completely, then slice or cut the white flesh into sticks, cubes, or thin rounds.

Versatile Enjoyment:
Excellent eaten raw with lime, salt, or chili, added to salads and slaws, or lightly cooked in stir-fries while retaining much of its crunch.

Important:
Only the underground root is eaten. The leaves, pods, and seeds of the jicama plant are not edible.

Each Jicama is carefully selected for crispness, freshness, and a clean, juicy bite.

How to enjoy this fruit

A rounded root with dry, light-brown skin. The flesh is white and looks a little like a turnip or potato.

Before you try it

Only eat the peeled white root. Discard the skin; the plant's leaves, pods and seeds are not edible.

When it’s ready

It is ready to prepare when it arrives. Firmness is what you want here, so do not wait for it to soften.

How to eat it

Wash the root, peel away all the brown skin and cut the white flesh into slices or sticks. Eat it raw. It is crunchy, refreshing and mildly sweet, like an apple with the crunch of a water chestnut. A squeeze of lime works well.

How to store it

Keep the whole root somewhere cool, dry and shaded. If your kitchen is warm, refrigerate it. Keep peeled or cut pieces in a covered container in the fridge.
